Replication:
An experiment that uses the same procedure as a previous experiment but with a new sample from the same population.
Help increase confidence that a result from an experiment is not a fluke, derived from a mistake.
Replications may have: Type 1 errors:
“A false positive.”
When researchers conclude that there is a relationship between two variables when the replication shows that in fact there is not.
Replications may have: Type 2 errors:
” A false negative.”
When researchers conclude that there is not a relationship between two variables when the replication shows that in fact there is.
Reanalysis:
Scientists’s data and claims will be tested to see if they are true as other scientists start studying it too.
