Chapter 2 Flashcards
Nutrient
Is any chemical (element a or compound) in the diet that supports normal reproduction, growth, lactation, or maintenance of life processes
What are Essential Nutrients?
Cannot be made by the body or not synthesized in great enough quantities to support life processes
Needed in the diet
What are Non-Essential Nutrients?
Can be made by the body and are not needed in the diet
What are the essential nutrients? (List order)
