What is instructional sport?
It’s important because learning about a sport is important to all forms of participation. It’s not sport taught for credit at school, but is usually provided for a fee by instructors who teach participants skills, techniques, strategies, rules and regulations to help participants improve.
What levels of instruction are usually provided in instructional sport?
Lessons, workshops, or clinics are usually provided at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
What are some settings of instructional sport?
The community, military, a club, or resort?
What is informal sport?
It has little or no structure and is completely self-directed. There are no predetermined goals other than fitness or fun and requires minimal supervision.
What is intramural sport?
It consists of sporty contests, tournaments, leagues, and other events where participation is limited (school, business, community, military base). Participation is almost always governed by written or understood eligibility rules and regulations.
Is intramural sport only for men?

What are some examples of intramural sport?
Leagues at a bowling center or sport club championships
What is extramural sport?
An extension of intramural sport where there are typically contests between different institutions as opposed to intramural sports which are contests within an institution
What are club sports?
This is a bridge between recreational sport and athletic sport where participants seek structured contests where winning is important to everyone. Members pay dues and are often recruited.
