Cells that can become other cells
What are Embryotic STEM cells
STEM cells from embryos that can become any specialized cell
What are adult STEM cells
STEM cells that can only become cells in need of replacement
What is tissue
Groups of specilized cells that work together for a purpose
What are the 4 types of animal tissue
- Epithelial
- Connective
- Muscle
- Nervous
What does Epithelial tissue do
Lines the surfaces and cavities protects structures, produces glands, hormones, sweat and enzymez
What does connective tissue do
supports and protects structures, forms blood, stores fat and fills empty space.
What does Muscle tissue do
Allows for movement
What does Nervous tissue do
Responds to stimuli, transmits and stores information
What are the 4 types of plant tissue
- Meristimatic
- Epidermal
- Ground
- Vascular
What does Meristimatic tissue do
Responsible for growth and can become any of the 3 other tissues
What does Epidermal tissue do
Forms a protective layer and allows for gas exchange.
What does Ground tissue do
Provides strength and support and stores food in the roots.
What does Vascular tissue do
Transports materials from the roots to the rest of the plant
