Chapter 12 😀 - Optics Flashcards
What is the cornea
The protective layer that lets light through
What is the pupil
A hole in the eye that lets light through
What is the iris
A coloured muscle that controls the pupil
What is the Retina
The inner lining at the back of the eye where images are formed.
What are photorecepters
Cells in the retina that detects light and creates images.
What are the two types of photorecepters
- Rod cells
- Cone cells
What do the rod cells do
Detects shapes and movement
What do the cone cells do
Detects colour using RGB cone cells
What is true colour blindness
When no cone cells work so you only see in black and white
What is colour deficiency
When some cone cells work while others dont.
Facts about far sightedness explain how it works, the solution, and scientific name
How: Images form behind the retina due to the lens not being thick enough.
Solution: Add a converging lens
Scientific name: Hyperopia
Facts about Near sightedness ow it works, the solution, and scientific name
How: Images form In front of the retina due to the lens not being thin enough.
Solution: add a diverging lens
Scientific name: Myopia
Facts about astigmatism explain how it works, and the solution
How: A mishapen cornea makes double images
Solution: Eye Surgery
