Chapter 19 The Heart Flashcards
Fully oxygenated blood goes out to the tissues through which side of the heart?
Left side of the heart
Which side of the heart is responsible for taking less oxygenated blood to the lungs?
Right side of the heart
What is the mediastinum?
The ex casement tissue lining for the heart
Define the pericardium.
The double walled sac that encloses the heart to resist over expansion and decreases friction. Anchored to the sternum and diaphragm
What is the parietal pericardium?
Outer most layer made of fibrous connective tissue and thin serous layer
Visceral pericardium provides what function?
Covers the surfCe of the heart serous lining
What is pericarditis?
Inflammation of the pericardium membranes. Painful to breath and each heart beat.
What makes up the heart wall?
Epicardium serous membrane
And the endocardium inner lining of the heart and blood vessels.
Myocardium cardiac muscle produces wringing out motion in each heart beat
The atrioventricular valve is located where and what type of valve is it?
Located Between artia and ventricles.
Right av ( 1st in sequence ) tricuspid
Left av 2 nd in sequence bicuspid
What are semi lunar valves?
Control blood flow into the arteries. Open and close with the pressure of contraction
Pulmonary between right ventricle and pulmonary trunk.
Aortic between left ventricle and aorta
What is the order of blood flow through the heart.
Superior venae cava into the right atrium
Through the right av into right ventricle
Contraction pushes blood through the pulmonary valve tricuspid
From the lungs through pulmonary veins to left atrium
From left av valve bicuspid and into the ventricle
Contraction pushes it through the aorta and out to the body
Back through the superior venae cava
How much blood is diverted to supply the heart
5%
What is systole?
What is diastole?
Systole contraction
Diastole relaxation
What fuels the heart ?
Aerobic respriation. No oxygen debt. Uses all fuels glucose fatty acids and ketones
What’s the trail of conduction through the heart?
as node over atrium and to the av node down av bundle and back through the purkinje
