What are the functions of advertising?

What makes an advertisement effective?
It should;
- capture their attention
- interest them so they will stop and read it
- create desire for the product
- persuade the consumer to buy it
What are the advantages of advertising?
- Increases sales
- Provided employment for people
- Provides info on products, events, services
- Keeps down costs of newspapers, magazines, TV
What are the disadvantages to advertising?
- Encourages materialism
- Makes exaggerated claims
- Encourages people to desire & buy things they can’t afford
- Posters and billboards spoil the landscape

What is marketing?
Marketing is the process by which companies create customer interest in their product. Used to identify the customer, satisfy the customer and keep the customer.
