-Results-oriented process based upon the student’s individual needs and preferences to facilitate movement to post-school activities

Transition Planning
-When a student reaches age 16, IDEA requires the IEP team to begin transition planning
-Annual review and update
-Appropriate measurable postsecondary goals based on age-appropriate transition assessments
Postsecondary Education (3)
-Students with disabilities are more likely to enroll in postsecondary education if they have had inclusive experiences, work experience, and other career-related experiences.
-transition to postsecondary education is more probable when students have support—a “network of people
-Prepare for postsecondary education by providing increasingly difficulty instruction, and teaching necessary skills that are needed in college

-Individuals with disabilities with jobs report a higher quality of life than their unemployed counterparts.
-Work offers opportunities for social interaction
-A chance to use and enhance skills, A sense of pride, self-satisfaction, and the respect of others
