Early Intervention Definition (3)
-services provided to infants and toddlers from birth through age 2 years.
-Early intervention consists of a comprehensive system of therapies, educational, nutritional, child care, and family supports
-designed to reduce the effects of disabilities or prevent the occurrence of learning and developmental problems later in life for children presumed to be at risk for such problems.
IEP & IFSP Differences (3)
-IFSP focuses more on the family, while IEP focuses on just the child alone.
-IFSP emphasizes the natural environment children live in for providing services, while IEP emphasizes different school settings.
-IFSP works with agencies that are not just educational such as health and human service agencies
IEP & IFSP Similarities (3)
-Goals for IEP and IFSP are created with functionality, generality, instructional context, and measurability in mind.
-Both IEP and IFSP identify and address the needs of a child that is atypical in development or general functioning.
-IEP and IFSP both have transition plans to the next level of education or next step in development
