Organizational culture
A system of shared of assumptions that show people what is appropriate and inappropriate behavior.
Three interrelated levels of org. Culture
Assumptions -beliefs about human nature and reality
Values- shared principles, standards and goals
Artifacts- visible, tangible aspects (easiest to judge)

Innovative- more of like google, genentech, flexible, adaptable
Aggressive- Microsoft, apple, - buys out competitors if they cant beat them
Outcome oriented- emphasizes achievement and results
Stable cultures- Kraft, GE - predictable, rule oriented and bureaucratic
People oriented cultures- starbucks, a-dec, burgerville value fairness, supportiveness, and respecting individual rights
Team oriented- southwest airlines, collaborative effort
Detail oriented- mcdonalds, 4 seasons hotels… precision and same exact framework (ease of training
Service culture- nordstrom ,umpqua bank … employees are trained to serve the customers
Safety culture- emphasizes safety
Culture creation
Founder values+ industry demands= early goals/values and assumptions
Culture maintenance
Attraction + new employee onboarding + leadership + reward system = org. Culture

Gather info - manage first impression, invest in relationship development, seek feedback, show success early on
