Chapter 14 - B - Glial Cells, Myelination, Regeneration Flashcards
What are Ependymal Cells?
Ciliated cuboidal epithelial cells that line the ventricles of the brain and central canal of the spinal cord, and are a type of glial cell.
What are Satellite cells?
Glial cells of the PNS that regulate the fluid composition around neuronal cell bodies.
What is another name for a schwann cell?
Neurolemmocyte
How do schwann cells and oligodendrocytes differ?
Schwann cells only myelinate one part of one axon, and aid in axon regeneration. Oligodendrocytes myelinate multiple parts of multiple axons.
What is the Endoneurium?
Connective tissue surrounding each axon in a nerve
What is the Perineurium?
Connective tissue surrounding each fascicle of axons in a nerve
What is the Epinerium?
Connective tissue surrounding the entire nerve
