CIN
Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Pre-cancerous growth of the cervix. Coded stage I - III. III is cancer
VIN
Vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia. Pre-cancerous growth of the vulva. Coded stage I - III. III is cancer
Leiomyoma
Common neoplasm of the female reproductive system. Commonly called fibroid or myoma. Benign tumors found on or in myometrium of the uterus. Verify specific type
Intramural Leiomyoma
Growth within the muscle of the uterine wall
Submucous Leiomyoma
Growth into the inner cavity of the uterus.
Subserosal Leiomyoma
Project to the outside of the uterus
Ectopic pregnancy
Pregnancy outside the uterus. Most of the Fallopian tubes called a tubal pregnancy.
Molar pregnancy
Blighted ovum. Non viable fertilized egg implants into the uterus.
Hydatidiform mole
Abnormal pregnancy with cystic growth of the placenta.
Spontaneous abortion
Miscarriage. Bleeding, cramping, and passing of tissue. No remnants of pregnancy remain
Missed abortion
Prior to 20 weeks. Fetus dies but remnants of the conception remain.
Colpoesis
Vaginal walls are sewn together, eliminating prolapse from the vagina. Done in older women.
Colpopexy
Suture material or mesh is used to suspend the vagina from the bones structures of the pelvis. May be performed with a hysterectomy for severe prolapse
LEEP
Loop electrosurgical excision procedure. Physician uses a loop electrode to remove a portion of the cervix. Is a biopsy and treatment for dysplasia following an abnormal Pap smear or cervical biopsy. Documentation needs to indicate a biopsy was performed as well as approach.
