Q

A
  • narrowly-focused synthesis of research findings from QUANTitative studies
  • looks at studies of similar methodology
  • same standards of rigor, etc, as primary research studies

Q

Meta-Analysis

A
  • statistically pools results from previous studies into single QUANTitative analysis
  • allows for application of scientific criteria (sample size, level of significance, variables)

Q

What results are reported in a meta-analysis?

A
  • a large, diverse sample MORE representative of target population
  • determination of overall significance of probability of pooled data
  • indication of efficacy of intervention, coming from average effect size determined from several quality studies (stronger evidence)
  • strength of relationship between variables (better known because coming from many studies)
