Chapter 13: Administration, Scoring, and Interpretation of Selected Tests Flashcards
Aerobic Capacity
Aerobic Power
Max rate at which an athlete can produce energy through oxidation of energy sources (carbs, fats, proteins) usually expressed as a volume of oxygen consumed per kilogram of body weight.
Agility
A rapid whole-body change of direction or speed in response to a sports-specific stimulus.
Anaerobic Capacity
Maximal rate of energy production by the combined phosphagen and anaerobic glycolytic energy systems for moderate-duration activities.
Anaerobic Power
Anthropometry
The science of measurement applied to the human body, generally includes measurements of height, weight, and selected body girths.
Athletic Performance
The ability to respond effectively to the various physical demands of the specific sport or event.
Athletic Profile
Balance
Is the ability to maintain static and dynamic equilibrium or the ability to maintain the body’s center of gravity over its base of support.
Body Composition
Relative proportions by weight of fat and lean tissue.
Central Tendency

Effect Size
Flexibility
A range of motion about a body joint.
High-speed Muscular Strength
Inferential Statistics
Local Muscular Endurance
Certain muscles or groups to perform repeated contractions against a submaximal resistance.
Low-Speed Muscular Srength
Maximual effort while maintaining proper form often in the form of a 1 rep max. Called low speed as it’s not in an attempt of how fast one can move the weight.
Also measured isometrically (immovable object) measured with a transducer.
Magnitude Statistics
Maximal Anaerobic Muscular POwer
The ability of the muscle to exert force at high speed.

Speed
Time take to move from one position to another.

The ability to return to a desired position following a disturbance to the system.
