Describe the general characteristics of flavoproteins
A
- they contain a modified vitamin B2 or riboflavin
- nucleic acid derivatives
- > either flavin adenine dinucleotide(FAD) or flavin mononucleotide(FMN)
-note they are located in the mitochondria and chloroplasts as electron carriers

A
- function as coenzymes for enzymes in the oxidation of fatty acids
- decarboxylation of pyruvate
