When is the future tense used?
- When speaking about future events that are some distance away (not immediate)
Voy a hablar con el medico.
I am going to talk with the doctor (very soon).
Hablaré con el medico.
I will talk with the doctor (at some point in the future).
- To speculate about current situations.
¿Donde estará el medico?
Where could the doctor be?
Tendrá una emergencia.
He must have an emergency.
How do you form a future tense verb?
Add the future tense endings (all the same for -ar, -er, and -ir) to the infinitive form of the verb.
