Chapter 12 - Principle of Test Selection and Adm Flashcards
Validity
Measuring what is supposed to measure
Construct Validity
logical behind your test - the ability of a test to represent the underlying of its construct
Face Validity
the appearance for nonexperts
Content Validity
the ability to cover all the subcomponents of a category
Criterion-Referenced Validity
test scores are associated with some other measurement of the same ability
ex: 1.5 mil run has a high correlation with VO2Max, while VO2max is a gold standard for aerobic capacity; therefore, 1.5mile run has a high criterion-reference validity
Criterion-Referenced Validity types
Concurrent Validity
Convergent Validity
Predictive Validity
Discriminant Validity
Concurrent Validity
test scores are associated with those of other accepted tests that measure the same ability
ex: vertical jump with countermovement vs vertical jump without countermovement
Convergent Validity
compare to gold standard
Predictive Validity
test score corresponds to future behavior or performance
Discriminant Validity
ability of a test to distinguish between two different constructs
Reliability
consistency or repeatability
Reliability types
Intrasubject: lack of consistency within the tested athlete
Interrater: by two different testers
Intrarater: by a given tester
Sequence of Tests
- Nonfatiguing
- Agility
- Strength/ Power Max
- Sprint
- Local Muscular Endurance
