A
- assess reasons & receivers: think about audience - interests, previous knowledge, informing or persuading?, etc.
- assess conditions: location - use appropriate props/visuals, time - limit & time of day? (use only most important points to keep the audience’s attention)

- usually based off of a written document, so take main points from it & certain details to emphasis points
