metastasis
the development of secondary malignant growths at a distance from a primary site of cancer.
benign
tumor that does not invade nearby tissue or spread to other parts of the body the way cancer can. Benign tumors can be serious if they press on vital structures such as blood vessels or nerves. Therefore, sometimes they require treatment and other times they do not
malignant
A tumor that invades surrounding tissues, is usually capable of producing metastases, may recur after attempted removal, and is likely to cause death unless adequately treated.

TNM system
system that doctors use to categorize growths that can be cancerous. T - is the growth benign or malignant (tumor). N - is the growth located in the nodes. M- has the growth spread to other parts of the body
