highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART)
most commonly use treatment for AIDs that involves many different anti-HIV drug that keep the virus from replicating
human immunodeficiency virus
HIV is the virus responsible for causing AIDs
opprotunistic infections
infections caused by organisms that cannot induce disease in people with normal immune systems, but take the opprotunity to flourish in people with HIV infection
psychneuroimmunology
a field of study that evolved out of the disciplines of biology and psychology and is dedicated to understanding the interplay between these disparate systems
clinical latency
the state or period of HIV living or developing in a host without producing clinical symptoms. It is also called period of asymptomatic HIV, or chronic HIV.
conditioned immunity
when the body produces an immune response with exposure a pathogen b/c it comes in contact with something associated with that pathogen
