Plessy vs. Ferguson
The separate but equal doctrine was overturned by this in 1954. Segregation was outlawed in public schools

Chief Justice Earl Warren (1953-1969)
These were created in 1789 to serve as trial courts for both criminal and civil cases. Today there are 94 of them with each state having at least 1. Large states like CA, NY, and TX have 4. DC and Puerto Rico have one and there are more than 550 judges.
Federal District courts
Throughout the courts history more than 100 men and 2 women have served as justices. There is no requirement for age, experience, or even native born but most chosen have all three.
