transnational families
families in which one or more family members live in another country for an extended period of time.
blended family

boomerang kids

intergenerational trauma
the effect of the abuses experienced by Indigenous individuals in residential schools, the legacy of which persists and has spanned generations, on parent-child relationships.
sandwich generation
a general group term for individuals who are simultaneously providing care to children and to parents.
co=parenting
child rearing by two or more people together, even if they have never previously been in a romantic relationship; also known as platonic parenting.
in vitro fertilization
conception that occurs by bringing together ova and sperm using medical procedures; commonly known as test-tube fertilization.
