what is attatchment
the close social and emotional bond of affection that develops between the infant and their care givers/parents

is where no attatchment occurs and the child never forms a relationship with the caregiver

What is insecure avoidant attachment
infants rarely get upset if strangers enter and are not clingy. they become upset when left alone but are comforted bt caregiver and stranger or can ignore both
what is secure attachment
infant distressed in the absense of caregiver a stranger can comfort the child but will be treated differently to carer. when carer returns baby seeks touch and is delighted
what is insecure resistant
do not play as much as a or b but become very distressed when carer leaves and resist comfort from stranger seek contacr with carer but do not display joy. anxious and negative and distressed after
what happened in ainsworths experiments?
mum and child in room, stranger enters, mother leaves, stranger comforts if need be, stranger leaves and mother enters, mother leaves and baby is alone, stranger enters and comforts baby, mother returns and stranger leaves.
what was piaget?
all children go through 4 stages of development, sequentially, without missing. HE believed the stages were the same for every person, no mater culture/socioeconomic status.

refers to fitting new information of experiences into an existing idea
accomodation
refers to altering ideas as a result of learning new information or having new experiences.
