  • assessment: comprehensive developmental, sexual and relationship history
  • psychosocial treatment: support, coping based, realigning a persons psychological gender with natal sex
  • medical treatment: hormone suppression theory: psychological assessment, diagnosis, staged transition and adaptation, surgical procedures and hormone therapy

  • element of risk necessary for arousal
  • diagnosis: acted upon urges with a non-consenting person, expereinced distress or impairment related to urges
  • must be at least 18

assessment and treatment

A
  • assesses extent of deviant patterns of sexual arousal, sexual history, social skills, ability to form relationships
  • psychosocial treatment: behavioral, family, marital and group therapy, relapse prevention
  • biological treatment: chemical castration is work done by reducing testosterone levels or secretion so sexual desires are elimitated
