How do S.O.P.’s (Standard Operating Procedures) relate to risk management?
- they provide consistency and uniformity in job performance
- they become guiding principle for evens that outline the processes to be followed for each potential risk
Could you describe developing your risk management planning?
- risk assessment- identify risks. Involve people.
- classify risks in a hierarchal order by frequency and seriousness
- manage or treat- decide how to manage or treat the identified risks. Treatments include retaining, reducing, avoiding, or transferring to a third party
Implementing your risk management plan
all parties involved understood the expectations the plan has established and their role in making sure those expectations are met. Communications is key through handbooks, emails, posters, fliers, etc

overseeing your risk management plan by such tasks as documenting incidentals, developing future strategies, and evaluating what occurred

Negligence
- an unintentional wrongdoing that results in injury to a person, property, or reputation
- this is the area where the sport industry sees most of its lawsuits
How does “duty” relate to negligence?
the term duty relates to a recognized social norm regarding how you should conduct yourself with others
you must consider the duty to protect against foreseeable dangers, the duty to provide adequate security, and the duty to warn about known dangers
How does “breach” relate to negligence?
breach involves misconduct that occurred or a person’s action or oversight
