Acute Illness
A sudden illness from which a person is expected to recover
Assisted Living Resident (ALR)
Provides housing, personal care, support services, health care, and social activities in a home-like setting to persons needing help with daily activities
Case Management
Coordinates the care of specific groups of patients from admission to discharge and into home or long-term care
Chronic illness
On-going illness, slow/gradual/onset, no cure but can be controlled with treatment

Interdisciplinary health team whose skills and knowledge focus on the person’s total care

Health care agency/program for people dying

Nurse that completed the practical nursing (PN) program and passed the licensed test (L). Aka LVN - (V-vocational)

Passed the NA program; performs delegated nursing tasks from a Licensed Nurse.

Those who provide nursing care - RN, LPN/LVN, NA

Nursing care pattern(1/5); services moved from department to bedside
Primary Nursing
Nursing care pattern(2/5); RN does person’s total care
Registered Nurse (RN)
Completed 2,3,4-year nursing and licensed
Surveyor
Person that collects information by observing and asking questions
Team nursing
Nurse care pattern(3/5); team of nursing staff lead by RN who decides amount/type of care each person needs
