Anatomical Erect Position
A Reference in describing the anatomy of a study.
Examples of references in the Anatomical Erect Position
Eyes looking forward. Palms facing Forward. Upper limbs hanging by the sides. Human body standing erect. Thumbs directed laterally.
Supine Position
The body lies on its back.
Prone Position
The body lies on its face.
Lithotomy Position
The body lies on its back with the flex ion of the hip and knee and abduction of hip joints.
Median Plane (Sagittal)
Vertical plane that passes in the middle line of the body dividing into equal halves, right and left.
Paramedical Plane
A plane parallel to and nearby the median plane.
Coronal (Frontal) Plane
A plane that cuts the body vertically into an anterior part towards the front and the posterior part towards the back.
Horizontal Plane
A transverse plane which runs horizontally cutting the body into an upper (superior) and lower (inferior) parts.
