provide safe care under stress, engage in conflict and learn other viewpoints, set and respect limits, bring positive energy, honor own well-being while advocating for patients

passive communicator qualities
believe their own opinions, values and needs are less than; apologize frequently; give up or let others occupy their personal space
passive-aggressive communicator qualities
believe their needs are just as valuable of more valuable than others’; gossip about others behind their back; sabotage or resist change
aggressive communicator qualities
believe their own needs are greater than those of others’; dominate group discussions, use verbal/nonverbal communication to humiliate, judge, or disrespect others; ignore or discount others’ perspectives
assertive communicator qualities
recognize needs of themselves and others; respect perspectives even when disagreeing; respect personal space of self and others; use respectful communication
