What is urbanisation?
Urbanisation is the growth in the population of a countries population living in Urban areas.
What is a megacity?
A mega city is a urban area with over 10 million people living there.
How has the number and location of megacities changed over time?
In 1950 there were only two megacities. Tokyo and New York.
In 2014 there were 28 megacities and it is expected to grow up to 41 by 2030.
What is a primate city?
A primate city is when one city dominates the country that it is in, meaning that the one city has a much larger population than other cities in the country.
What is rural to urban migration?
When people move from the rural areas to urban areas due to push and pull factors.
What are push and pull factors?
Push and pull factors are the factors that make people leave and enter an area. Examples could be because less job opportunities or maybe even a high pay.
What are primary activities?
Activities like farming and woodcutting.
What are tertiary activities?
Activities like doctors or dentists, these require a good education.
What are secondary activities?
Jobs that manufacture things that come from primary activities.
What is counter urbanisation?
When people move from the cities back to the suburbs.
