What are some economic pull factors?
There are better paid jobs.
There is better housing.
What are some migration pull factors?
Growth in jobs.
Better quality of life.
Better services.
Jobs are growing.
What are some economic push factors?
Low Pay.
Rural Poverty.
Lack of investment.
What are some migration push factors?
Lack of services.
Lack of opportunities.
What is Internal migration?
Migration within a country which is usually rural to urban.
What is rural to urban migration?
Movement from the countryside to towns or cities.
What is happening to the population in Detroit?
It is decreasing. From 1950 to 1990 it fell from 1.9 to 1.0.
Why has the population changed in Detroit?
The wealthier people have left to live in the suburbs outside the city.
How are Detroit’s car companies going out of business?
Detroit buys it’s parts from overseas, putting companies out of business.
How is New York’s population changing?
It starts to first of all increase, then it begins to slowly decrease and again it increases.
How much did New York’s population decrease between 1970 and 1980?
It decreased by about 1 million.
Why did New York’s population change?
New York have expertise in finance and employment there has risen.
What were primary activities like in the pre-industrial time?
The working conditions were very poor. People had to try and make money in the easiest way possible. Primary activities were very common during those times.
What were secondary activities like in the industrial time?
The employment was in the middle as it was not very common and not very uncommon.
What were the tertiary activities like during the post-industrial times?
The employment was very high and a good wage came with it. A good education was required and many met the requirements.
What were the Quaternary activities like during post-industrial times?
They were quite low because a really good education is needed and it is a slow process.
What was tertiary activities like in the industrial time?
The tertiary activities were starting to grow but still was growing fast.
What were the primary activities like during the post-industrial time?
The Primary jobs had all gone down because people wanted jobs with better pay.
