what is the change curve?
it shows the emotions of the process of change - it is time on x and morale and competence on y - starts medium and rises slightly then drops low and then rises again
what are the stages on the change curve?
shock, denial, frustration, depression, experiment, decision, integration
what is experiment?
it is initial engagement with the new situation
what is decision?
it is learning how to work in the new situation and feeling more positive
what is integration?
it is when changes are integrated and a renewed individual
what is Kotter’s model of change?
there are 8 steps to successful change - in a coalition all people need to be behind it, small achievements will keep team motivated and vision ,must be communicated
what are kotter’s 8 stages?
establish sense of urgency, create a guiding coalition, identify vision and communicate vision, empower people to act, identify small wins, build and consolidate wins and institutionalise the change
what was the issue in HRI?
they were failing to meet NICE guidelines with poor experiences, high mortality and readmission. longer then necessary stays
what went wrong with change in HRI?
too much backlash due to lack of communication of vision and inspiring change
how many dimensions of the NHS leadership model is there and what are they?
engaging team, inspiring shared purpose, holding to account, leading with care, sharing vision, evaluating information, connecting service, developing capability and influencing for results
