- Internet is worlds largest network
* Internet is a collection of interconnected networks freely exchanging information using common set of protocols

Internet Protocol (IP)
- communication standard,
- allows computers to route communications traffic from one network to another

IP Address

○ Primary concern: that each domain name represents only 1 individual or entity

§ Uses modem and standard phone line to “dial up” and connect
§ Also ties up phone line during use
Cloud computing
software and storage provided as internet service, accessed with web browser
○ Often referred to as Software as a Service (SaaS)
○ Vendors that provide the software are Application service providers (ASP’s)
Public Cloud
service providers that offer cloud to public
Private cloud
cloud used within a private network (i.e a business
Hybrid Cloud
combine public and private cloud
Virtual Private Network
secure and private connection over the internet
Community cloud
several businesses share cloud computing resources
INTERNET VS WEB
Internet is infrastructure the Web exists on.—so WEB exists on INTERNET
