- Internet is worlds largest network
* Internet is a collection of interconnected networks freely exchanging information using common set of protocols

Internet Protocol (IP)
- communication standard,
- allows computers to route communications traffic from one network to another

IP Address
assigned to each computer on internet, identifies computer on internet

○ Primary concern: that each domain name represents only 1 individual or entity

Dial up Internet connection
○ least expensive but slowest connection
§ Uses modem and standard phone line to “dial up” and connect
§ Also ties up phone line during use
Cloud computing
software and storage provided as internet service, accessed with web browser
○ Often referred to as Software as a Service (SaaS)
○ Vendors that provide the software are Application service providers (ASP’s)
Public Cloud
service providers that offer cloud to public
Private cloud
cloud used within a private network (i.e a business
