Q

Compare somatic and Autonomic nervous system

A

Somatic nervous system - voluntary effectors skeletal muscle. Axons innervate skeletal muscle afferent pathways originate in skeletal muscle

Autonomic nervous system- sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic nervous system involuntary effectors. Innervate visceral organs afferent and efferent neurons, afferent pathways originate in visceral receptors

Q

Post ganglionic neurons

A

Sympathetic nervous system- long release nor epinephrine excites or inhibits onto effectors

Parasympathetic nervous system short releases acetylcholine onto effectors

Unmyelinated

Q

Describe the sympathetic nervous system

A

preganglionic neuron > ganglion >post ganglion > effector’s or collateral ganglion

A.k.a. thoracolumbar division most active during times of stress exertion or emergency

Simulates energy to the muscles sweat and lipids
Decreases blood to skin increases heart rate blood to muscles dilate pupils and respiratory tubes

Sympathetic nervous system has a lot of divergence many pathways of information transfer leaving the spinal cord pre-ganglionic neurons and synapses in on ganglia allows many organs to be activated by SNS at the same time quickly

Celiac ganglia
inferior mesenteric ganglia
superior mesenteric ganglia

Q

Describe the parasympathetic nervous system

A

A.k.a. craniosacral division most active during resting conditions more localized and specific preganglionic far away from the spinal cord ganglion next to a factor or inside affect or post gangrene

functions people construction digestion reproduction reduced heart rate

Vagus nerve leaving the brainstem

Q

Sympathetic Ching ganglia

A

Pre-ganglion neurons can travel up and down Chain to effectors
collateral ganglion take Info and give it to effectors and visceral organs: Celiac ganglion superior mesenteric ganglion inferior mesenteric ganglion sympathetic nervous system

Q

Release of acetylcholine

A

Both Parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system release acetylcholine onto post ganglionic from preganglionic

Sympathetic releases nor epinephrine onto a factors from postganglionic

Parasympathetic really says acetylcholine onto factors from postganglionic
