Q

How new vegetativ organ are formed

A

Under favourable conditions, bud developed into ariel shoot using the food in vegetative organs. The shoot is developed into new plants. Some food made in green leaves is transported to the vegetative organ for storage and formation of new vegetative organ.

Q

Advantage of using vegetative propagation than using seed

A

Vegetative organ stores a lot of food for the growth of bud into shoot. It is a faster way of reproduction.
It does not rely on external agent for pollination. It is a more reliable way.
The genetic make-up of the offspring is identical to the parent cell. Desirable trait can be retained in the offspring.

Q

The disadvantage of using vegetative propagation than using seed

A

Overcrowding and competition for resources among the offspring and the parent.
Transmission of disease from parents to offspring is more likely.
Offspring shows no genetic variation, the offspring is less adapted to the changes in the environment.
