What causes secondary lactose deficiency? do dairy products have to be completely avoided?

- Secondary lactase deficiency can be caused by injury to the small bowel.
- Should be treated and elimination of lactose from the diet is not necessary.
- MIlk products should be resumed once the conditions has resolved. This is because elimination of dairy is a concern of low intake of calcium, vitamin D and other nutrients.
