Describe the pure and noble lineage of the Messenger Peace be Upon Him.
-He descended by the noblest of lineage.
-His enemies agreed upon this. For example, Heraclius the Emperor of Byzantium ask Sayidduna Abu Sufyan about his ancestry. He replied, “He is from a noble family”. At the time, Abu Sufyan was a fierce enemy of Muhammad.
Where did the Quraysh come from?
-Fihr ibn Malik was given the title Quraysh because he was the strongest and most courageous man in Arabia.
-Quraysh is the name of a dominant sea creature.
-The prophet is Qurayshi from both his father’s and mother’s side.
Who was Hashim?
-He was the great-grandfather of the messenger of Allah.
-His real name was Amr. He became known as Hashim after an incident in which he made tharid for the people of Makkah during a drought. His name means “the one who breaks up bread”.
-He married Salma and died at 25.
-He was the custodian of the Kabah after his father’s passing.
Who was Abd al Muttalib?
-Abd al Muttalib was Hashim’s son and Muhammad’s grandfather. His real name was Shayba.
-He spent most of his time in the cave of Hira in worship. The people of Makkah used him as a wasilah to supplicate.
-He stopped people from burying their daughters alive and punished thieves.
-He was the custodian of the well of Zamzam.
-He passed away at the age of 120.
Describe Ashab al Fil.
- Abraha ordered the construction of a grand church in Sana to divert people from the Kaba.
-Due to a Muslim dishonouring the church, Abraha’s army stole livestock from Makkans, 200-400 belonging to Abd al Muttalib.
-Abd al Muttalib came to retrieve his livestock and declared that Allah would protect his property. He made dua to Allah to protect the Kabah.
-Mahmud refused to move and the army was pelted with stones. The stones pierced the soldiers and the belly of the elephants.
-This story is mentioned in Surah Fil.
Describe the life of Abd Allah ibn Abu al Muttalib.
- Abd Allah was the most beloved son of Abd al Muttalib and carried the nur of the Messanger.
-When he was protected from the Jews in the forest by creatures sent by Allah, Wahb ibn Abd Manaf witnessed this and married Sayidattuna Aaminah to him. They married when he was 24.
- Two months after transferring the nur to Aaminah he went to Madina or Sham and fell ill on his way back. Abd al Muttalib sent Harith to see him but Harith returned with the news of his demise.
- It is narrated that even the angles grieved after his death.
-Umm Ayman took care of the Messenger in infancy. She married Sayyiduna Zaid and they had a son named Usama.
What are the 3 proofs that the parents of the messenger were Muslims?
- They were the followers of the religion of Ibrahim.
-They departed from this world before the proclamation of prophethood.
-It is narrated that the parents of the messenger were brought back to life to accept Islam.
What were some signs of the Messangers arrival?
- The incident of the elephant
- The Arabian peninsula becoming green after drought
-The fire of the Persians extinguished after 1000 years
