What is a computer network
collection of computers that communicate with one another over transmission lines or wirelessly (LAN,WAN,Internet)
What are the components of a LAN?
some kind of connectivity (wired or wireless)
LAN protocols: for two devices to communicate, they must use the same protocol (IEEE 802.3 for wired LAN connections)(Ethernet)
connecting to the internet: connection to an internet service provider (ISP)
1. ISP provides with legitimate internet address
2. ISP receives the communications from your computer and passes them on to the internet

Why is the cloud the future for most organizations?
the elastic leasing of pooled computer resources over the internet.
elastically means they pay for only the resources they use which are available quickly
pooled because many different orgs use the same physical hardware, share hardware through virtualization.
