Head
The word that gives its caterogry to the phrase
Recurision
The possibility of loops in the phrase structure rules that allow infinitely long sentences, and explain the creativity of langauge.
The Principle of Modification
If an XP (that is, a phrase with some catergory X) modifies some head Y, then XP must be sister to Y (i.e., a daughter of YP)
