-normal vs pathological
-focus on anat and phys

-treatment focuses on changing the individual
What are the tents of the functional model?
most individualized and personal model of disability

intervention methods are aimed at adapting th function of the individual for meaningful participation
What are the tents of the environmental model?
-environment can cause, define or exaggerate disability
-environment can facilitate of limit physical access
-most appropriate paradigm for conceptualizing psychological disabilities
What are the tenets of the sociopolitical model?
-goal for the individual is inclusion, civil rights, equal social status
-highlights society’s responsibility to accommodate ppl not the other way
-recognize that prejudice and discrimination are causal factors in disability
How does the concept of brain injury as a condition and rehabilitation as process inform care?
encourages the individual to own the process and IDs the clinician and family members as tools, supports and allies in the process
empowering concept b/c progress in contrast implies an end point

- lack adequate support while receiving outpatient tx
What is iatrogenesis?
inadvertently induced disease or problem cause by physician, therapy or medical setting itself
