Combitube

Esophageal-Tracheal Combitube (ETC)

A
  • Use small adult up to 6 foot tall.
  • Can be used even if placed in trachea.
  • Best to use laryngoscope to visualize
  • Bend tube.
  • Insert till teeth in between marked lines
  • Inflated larger no 1 balloon which is in pharynx then smaller no 2 balloon.
  • Try ventilating through no 1 blue tube. Check CO2 etc
  • If not working try no 2. Let out balloon some
  • If neither ventilates withdraw a little and retry.

  • Inserted until inflation balloon reaches lips.
  • Inflated then pulled back while ventilating until good ventilation.
