What is cellulitis?
A
Acute and painful infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissue
Severe infalmmation of dermal and subcutaneous layers of skin

What are some of the risk factors for cellulitis?
A
Old age, alcoholism, high BMI, pregnancy, insect bite, previous cellulitis

What treatment should be given for cellulitis?
A
Raised CRP
- Rest, elevation, analgesia
- Flucloxacillin (beta lactam drug)
- Use NSAIDs

What is the outcome like for a patient with cellulitis?
A
90%- no hospital admittance–> then IV antibiotics
