16
Q

What is the function of the light ? (Microscope)

A

It’s is used to see the specimen

17
Q

What is the function of the nosepiece ? (Microscope)

A

It allows use of different lenses

18
Q

What are the parts of the animal cell?

A

Ribosome , cell membrane , nucleus , cytoplasm and mitochondria

19
Q

What is the function of the cell membrane?

A

It’s is mostly made up of fat , it protects the cell and allows substances in and out of the cell

20
Q

What is the function of the nucleus?

A

It carries genes , which control the activities of the cell

21
Q

What is the function of te cytoplasm?

A

It is a watery fluid of salts and food in which cells float

22
Q

What is the function of the mitochondria?

A

Where the energy is released from food in respiration

23
Q

What is the function of the ribosome ?

A

It makes proteins ie)hormones and enzymes

24
Q

What equipment do u need for the cheek cell experiment ?

A

Microscope , cheek cells , cotton bud , methylene blue , slide and cover slip

25
Q

What is the method of the cheek cell experiment?

A

First you gently scrape the inside of your cheek with a cotton bud. Then rub the stick gently across the clean glass slide , let is dry onto the slide. Then add on drop of methylene blue stain on the cheek cells. Tilt the slide so that the stain covers the cheek cells. Lastly , place a cover onto the slide at a 45 degrees and lower it gently to avoid air bubbles

26
Q

How do u calculate the magnification caused by a light microscope?

A

You multiple the eyepiece magnification by the objective lens magnification.

27
Q

What is the function of a cell wall ? (Plants cell)

A

It’s is made up of cellulose and is provides extra protection for the cell.
