Cell cycle quiz Flashcards
G1 (cell growth)
cells grow
S (DNA replication)
DNA replication
G2 (preparation for mitosis)
Preparation phase. Items needed for division.
Mitosis
Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase
Prophase
chromatin condenses into chromosomes and the nuclear membrane and nucleolus break down
Metaphase
the chromosomes line up along the middle of the cell and spindles attach to chromosomes
Anaphase
the stage of mitosis and meiosis in which the chromosomes move toward the poles of the spindle.
Telophase
last step of cell division, when chromosomes move in opposite directions so two new cells can be formed from one. and the nuclear membrane reforms.
Cytokineses
cells divided into smaller ones or (daughter cells)
interphase
- G1 phase
- S phase
- G2 phase
