Cell Biology: Eukaryotes & Prokaryotes Flashcards
1
Q
What is a eukaryote? How does it differ from a prokaryote?
A
A eukaryotic cell contains its DNA enclosed in a nucleus whereas a prokaryotic cell’s genetic material/DNA is not enclosed in a nucleus.
2
Q
How is DNA usually found in a prokaryote?
A
- in a single loop of DNA
- sometimes with plasmids as well
3
Q
How do the sizes of eukaryotes and prokaryotes tend to differ?
A
Prokaryotes tend to be much smaller than eukaryotic cells.
