CC Grade E Facing Bets (Lectures 1-4) Flashcards
BU vs BB 2BP Facing Triple Barrel (REG)
What sizes are overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral in this late position battle?
Why?
Larger sizes are significantly overbluffed (5 from 0.8pot and up) (4 for 0.6-0.8pot) so call down light.
Smaller sizes be more careful as they are neutral or underbluffed (block bet is 2)
Regs miss mandatory give-ups with wide preflop range (less naturally strong hands and more natural bluffs), can’t contain themselves.
Overall Verdict: 4
EP vs BB 2BP Facing Triple Barrel (REG)
What sizes are overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral in this early position battle?
Why?
All sizes underbluffed, major underinvestment recommended.
All overbets and <0.6pot are 1
0.6-1.0pot are 2
EP has very few of the natural bluffs of unpaired lower card combos that normally TB river (when you do have them in EP, game theory demands higher bet frequency w/ them but this naturally gets missed)
Overall Verdict: 1
What is Range Origin Theorem?
Final result of a range is often more strongly dependant on its furthest back ancestor range than any step in between.
Triple barrel cbet is more dependant on preflop opening range than the turn cbet range.
BU vs BB 2BP Facing Triple Barrel (Rec)
What sizes are overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral in this late position battle vs fish?
Why?
Fish play their hand strength.
>0.8pot is underbluffed
<0.8pot is overbluffed
Recs know less about bluff/value ratios for sizes.
Thus they fall back to natural human inclination: invest more w/ good and less w/ bad.
What grade can we possibly start calling frail hands with, not just bluffcathers?
Qs5h2s 7c 7d vs Rec triple barrel (0.5-0.6pot barrels)
5+
In case of Qs5h2s 7c 7d vs Rec
Could consider calling K high busted flush draws
What grade can we possibly start folding grade A bluffcatchers?
When fish suddenly overbets river, what do you do?
Fold a lot, especially one pair hands. Even with good blockers.
Even consider folding bad two pair on dry runout.
CO vs BB 2BP Facing BXB (REG) normal sizes
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not barreling the turn affect their river bluffing range and value range?
e.g.
722r B33
3r X
8r B70
5, significantly overbluffed
1) Bluffing Range: Too much air lands on river from poor turn bluff selection (don’t barrel enough unpaired broadways/overcards)
2) Value range: Not enough thin value being bet (44, AQo, K3s are all near pure bets)
722r B33
3r X
8r B70
CO vs BB 2BP Facing BXB (Rec) SUDDENLY POT RIVER?
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not barreling the turn affect their river bluffing range and value range?
e.g.
A32hhd B50
3d
8r B100
7, MOST OVERBLUFFED SPOT IN POKER?
Recs barrel TP too much:
1) Bluffing Range is naturally bigger since a lot of value hands should’ve barreled.
2) Value range is way smaller since recs barrel too much TP on turn, which are best hands for large sizing on river.
CO vs BB 2BP Facing BXB (Rec) LARGE RIVER OVERBET?
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not barreling the turn affect their river bluffing range and value range?
0-1; SIGNIFICANTLY UNDERBLUFFED
1.25-1.75x is a 0
1.75x is 1
Unnatural for fish to tell INCONSISTENT STORY WHILE BLUFFING. This overbet is for greed, not a fancy play.
Typically they should land here with too much air and not enough TP, but sudden desire to make up lost ground shows strength.
CO vs BB 2BP Facing BXB (REG) Medium Sizes (0.8-1.0pot)
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not barreling the turn affect their river bluffing range and value range?
3, neutral
Not barreling turn means fewer value bets in this node
But regulars miss mandatory bluffs like on River Blunder Theorem Boards in BXB nodes
CO vs BB 2BP Facing BXB (REG) OVERBET
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not barreling the turn affect their river bluffing range and value range?
Significantly Underbluffed!
1.25-1.75x pot is a 1
Typically they should land here with too much air and not enough TP that would’ve barreled turn, but sudden desire to make up lost ground shows strength.
CO vs BB 2BP Facing BXB (Rec) River BLOCK BET
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not barreling the turn affect their river bluffing range and value range?
OVERBLUFFED by recs and regs
5 from recs
4 from regs
Recs love cheap bluffs on this node.
Not barreling turn means bluffing range naturally bigger
Value range way smaller since they barrel too much TP on turn.
CO vs BB 2BP Facing BXB (REG) River BLOCK BET
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not barreling the turn affect their river bluffing range and value range?
OVERBLUFFED by recs and regs
4 from regs
4 from regs
Regs like cheap bluffs on this node.
Not barreling turn means bluffing range naturally bigger
Value range way smaller since they barrel too much TP on turn.
CO vs BB 2BP Facing XBB (REG) X, B70 double barrel
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not cbetting the flop affect their river bluffing range and value range?
e.g.
QdTs6s X
Qh B70
7d B70
5, SIGNIFICANTLY OVERBLUFFED
-Value range: Not enough top pair checks flop
-Bluffing range: Not enough hopeless hands bet the flop, so large amount of air remains in turn range
QdTs6s X
Qh B70
7d B70
CO vs BB 2BP Facing XBB (Rec) X, B50 double barrel
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not cbetting the flop affect their river bluffing range and value range?
e.g.
Ts7c3c X
Qd B50
Qh B50
5, SIGNIFICANTLY OVERBLUFFED
-Value range: Not enough top pair and other value hands check flop
-Bluffing range: Not enough hopeless hands bet the flop, so large amount of air remains in turn range
CO vs BB 2BP Facing XBB (Rec) X, B70, LARGE RIVER OVERBET?
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not cbetting the flop affect their river bluffing range and value range?
e.g.
Kd7d6d X
Th B70
2c B200
0, SIGNIFICANTLY UNDERBLUFFED
Rec is trying to make up for lost ground
Normally they don’t protect their flop checking range enough, so calling turn delayed cbet is fine, but the “making up for lost ground” overbet is a blatant attempt to bloat the pot and catch up.
“Doesn’t Make Sense” Fallacy: When a line like above “doesn’t make sense,” it normally makes less sense as a bluff than it does for value. Don’t think that it doesn’t make sense as a value bet.
CO vs BB 2BP Facing XBB (Rec)
What sizes are overbluffed, underbluffed, and neutral?
Why?
REGS UNDERBLUFF LARGE SIZES AND OVERBLUFF MEDIUM SIZES
Medium sizes (0.4pot-0.8pot) are overbluffed 5
-recs trying to get cheaper price w/ bluffs (regs do this too in XBB line)
Large sizes & overbets (0.8pot-overbet) are underbluffed, 0 or 1
-Recs are making up for lost ground with big river sizings
In either line, flop checking range is underprotected and contains too much air.
Beware when air frequently improves by river against the medium sizes.
CO vs BB 2BP Facing XBB (REG)
Are medium sizes (0.4-0.8pot) overbluffed, underbluffed, and neutral?
How about 0.8-1.0pot?
How about pot/slight overbet?
How about large overbets?
Why?
REGS MOSTLY OVERBLUFFING XBB EXCEPT FOR LARGE OVERBET!
Medium sizes (0.4pot-0.8pot) are overbluffed 5
-regs trying to get cheaper price w/ bluffs (recs do this too in XBB line)
0.8-1.0pot, and blocks are neutral
Pot/ Slight Overbet are overbluffed 5
-reg prob trying to attack capped range
Large Overbets (1.25xpot and up) are underbluffed 1
-making up for lost ground too
Beware when air frequently improves by river against the medium sizes.
CO vs BB 2BP Facing XXB (Rec)
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not cbetting the flop and turn affect their river bluffing range and value range?
What should we do against this line?
e.g.
9h9s4s X
2c X
5d B70
7, MONSTROUSLY OVERBLUFFED (except formidable overbets)
How well does a rec manage to:
1. Wait twice before betting good pairs
2. Wait twice before betting less good pairs
3. Understand checking low SDV on river can be better than bluffing?
They don’t do it well. They underprotect checking range and are drowning in air hands.
Action:
1. Never ever fold anything ever against XXB
2. B33 less & XC more Tier 3 value bets.
3. Go for XR w/ best hands
Scattergun Theorem:
“If a fish ever deploys scattered aggression against you, do not ________. Seriously, do not ever ________. Ever”
“Unless the river sizing was for ____________”
“If a fish ever deploys scattered aggression against you, DO NOT FOLD. Seriously, DO NOT EVER FOLD. Ever”
“Unless the river sizing was for A FORMIDABLY SIZED OVERBET”
CO vs BB 2BP Facing XXB (REG) small to medium sizes
Is this spot overbluffed, underbluffed, or neutral?
Why? How did not cbetting the flop and turn affect their river bluffing range and value range?
7s and 5, MONSTROUSLY OVERBLUFFED by regs (the smaller, the more overbluffed)
-They underprotect checking range and are drowning in air hands. Regs super willing to make cheap bluffs.
near pot and overbets are neutral or slightly underbluffed by REGS, prob trying to catch up.
What % of textures are highly overbluffed in the XXB node?
88% of textures are highly overbluffed on XXB
What % of textures are highly overbluffed in the BXB node?
59% of textures are highly overbluffed on BXB
What % of textures are highly overbluffed in the XBB node?
41% of textures are highly overbluffed on XBB
What % of textures are highly overbluffed in the BBB node?
45% of textures are highly overbluffed on BBB

7r B85
3x B85
BBB
Low Rainbow Dry Runout
5, SIGNIFICANTLY OVERBLUFFED by EP and LP;
-On low, dry boards, PFR’s range naturally has high% of unpaired hands and low% of hands which can value bet. Restraint is needed which doesn’t happen.
-higher the board, better for EP. When lower, they overbluff.
Facing BBB (REG), as BB vs LP is the following board overbluffed or underbluffed?
Low / Ace River
BBB
Low/ Ace River
6, EXTREMELY OVERBLUFFED
Facing BBB (REG) as BB vs LP, is the following board overbluffed or underbluffed?

Low / Turn Overcard (non-Ace)
6, EXTREMELY OVERBLUFFED
Facing BBB, BB vs LP (REG), is the following board overbluffed or underbluffed?
Low / Ace Turn
Why?
e.g.
669r B33
Ar B85
5x B85
BBB vs LP
Low / Ace Turn
6, MOST SIGNIFICANTLY OVERBLUFFED BY LP but beware EP is opposite
LP is drowning in air from wide preflop, not A-high concentrated like EP would be.
(when facing EP this is very underbluffed)
Facing BBB, BB vs EP (REG), is the following board overbluffed or underbluffed?
Low / Ace Turn
Why?
e.g.
988r B33
Ar B70
4x B85
BBB vs EP
Low / Ace Turn
1, VERY UNDERBLUFFED
-FREQUENT TURN BLUFFS REQUIRED: Difficult to find required frequent turn bluffs like the big K-highs and unpaired broadways, but we’re supposed to when we’ve opened tighter preflop. People do not find these bluffs normally.
-FREQUENT RIVER BLUFFS REQUIRED: Negative blocker hands like QJ are supposed to bluff since nut flush draws became pairs on the turn.
Facing BBB, BB vs EP (REG), is the following board overbluffed or underbluffed?
Low Dry runout
Why?
e.g.
988ddh B33
2r B70
4h B85
BBB vs EP
Low Dry Runout
5, Very OVERBLUFFED (One exception to EP underbluffing in BBB line)
-Many low SDV turn hands and less top pairs to value bet
-bluff frequencies with Ax and Kx are small
-Restraint is required on blank rivers (which are terrible for IP players range, remember)
Facing BXB, BB vs LP (Reg), is the following board overbluffed or underbluffed?
Low / Ace River

Facing BXB, BB vs LP (Reg), is the following board overbluffed or underbluffed?
4 Flush River
Why?
e.g.
A62sss B33
2d
BXB vs LP
4 Flush River
7 from reg, Significantly OVERBLUFFED
6 from Recs
People do not find the unnatural and unattractive bluffs on the turn like T8cc, 75hh, T9dd.
e.g.
A62sss B33
2d
Scattered aggression 4 Flush river is overbluffed!
Continuous aggression 4 flush river is underbluffed significantly (1,0 )
Four Flush River Theorem
“On four flush runouts
_______ vs continuous aggression
_______ vs scattered aggression”
Massively overfold facing continuous aggression
Massively overdefend facing scattered aggression.
Paired Flop Theorem
Do Recs or Regs bluffed the river more often? Is this trend similar when they are EP?
Why?
Recs bluff river more than regs.
Recs underestimate SDV on hard to hit textures and bluff too high up in their range.
e.g. even in EP
EP BBB is a 1 for reg, 3 for fish
EP BXB is a 3 for reg, 5 for fish
Facing BXB, BB vs LP (Reg), is the following board overbluffed or underbluffed?
Flush River
BXB vs LP
