Separation distress- getting distressed when the attachment figure leaves

Feldman and Eidelman-alert phases
A
- Babies have alert phases when they’re ready for a spell of interaction.
- Feldman and Eidelman state mothers pick up and respond to their baby’s alertness around 2/3 of the time
- Around 3 months these interactions become frequent and involves mother and baby paying close attention to each other.

Meltzoff and Moore- observed interactional synchrony in babies as young as 2 weeks old. Adult displayed three expressions, expressions were repeated by baby
