care giver infant interactions ao1 Flashcards
interactional synchrony
define interactional synchrony
mother and infant reflect both the actions and emotions of the other and do this in a co ordinated way
how does Feldman 2007 describe interactional synchrony
the temporal co ordination of micro level social behaviour
meltzoff and Moore 1977 summary
observed the beginnings off interactional synchrony in infants as young as two weeks old
an adult displayed one of three facial expressions or distinctive gesture
the Childs response was recorded and identified by independent observers
association was found between the expression/gesture the adult had displayed and the reaction off a child
Isabella et al 1989 summary
observed 30 mothers and infants together and assessed the degree of synchrony
researchers also assessed the quality of mother infant attachment
found high levels of synchrony were associated with better quality mother infant attachment
