Cardiovascular System Flashcards
Identify the different parts of the system
Great Saphenous Vein
Superficial vein of lower leg connected to dorsal veous arch of foot up entire body (longest vein in body)
Posterior Tibial Vein
Plantar vein joins posterior
Anterior Tibial Vein
Dorsal pedis vein becomes anteror tibial vein up leg to become popiteal vein.
Plantar Venous Vein
Deep plantar arch becomes 2 venous veins to join posterior
Dorsal Metatarsal Vein
From metatrsal dorsal surface into deep venous arch
Dorsal Digital Vein
Digital vein drains blood from toes and becomes plantar arch
Dorsal Digital Arteries
Plantar arch divides for arteries to toes
Dorsal Metatarsal Artery
Anterior artery divides into dorsalis pedis artery and arcuate artery then metatarsal arteries
Medial Plantar Artery
Medial side of foot
Lateral Plantar Artery
Lateral side of foot
Posterior Tibial Artery
Femoral artery becomes posterior tibial travels down back of tibia
Anterior Tibial Artery
Femoral artery leads to anterior tibial at top and travels down to ankle
Brachial Vein
Ulnar and radius come up and form into this leading to axillary vein
Radial Vein
From wrist up forearm to become brachial
Ulnar Vein
From wrist up forearm to become brachial
Deep Venous Palmar Arch
Hand and empties blood to ulnar and radius veins
Superficial Palmar Venous Arch
Hand and empties blood blood from digital veins into radial and ulnar
Digital Veins
Drain blood from fingers connected to palmar venous arches
Deep Venous Palmar Arch
Radial and Ulnar arteries loop in palm of hand to become this
Ulnar Artery
Medial side of forearm to wrist to become deep/superficial palmar arches
Radial Artery
Lateral side of forearm to wrist to become deep/superficial palmar arches
Brachial Artery
Top of humerus turns into axillary artery down middle of forearm
Internal Jugular Vein
Middle of cranium down neck behind sternocleidomastoid and behind clavicle to join subclavian vein
External Jugular Vein
Jawline down infront of sternocliedomastoid and behind clavicle to join subclavian vein
Internal Carotid Artery
Inner side of neck into smaller vessells for superficial tissue of head/neck
External Carotid Artery
Upide of neck to base of skull, into smaller vessells for rest of head (brain, eyes, forehead, nose)
Common Carotid Artery
Start at aorta and travels up each side of neck dividing into internal/external
Veins
Carries deoxygenated blood back to heart
Venules
Small vessells that carry blood to veins
Capillaries
Small vessells that carry blood to smaller venules from arterioles
Arterioles
Small branch of an artery leading to capillaries
Arteries
Carries blood around body from the heart
Superior/Inferior Vena Cava
Carries blood from body to right atrium in heart
Pulmonary Vein
Carries blood from lungs to left atrium in heart
Pulmonary Artery
Carries blood from right ventricle to lungs
Aorta
Carries blood from left ventricle to body
Ventricle
Chambers in the heart that collect/get rid of blood given from the atrium
Atrium
Chamber where blood enters in the heart
