What does plaque and cholesterol lead to?
Leads to fatty deposits on walks of arteries which can obstruct blood flow
And this leads to high blood pressure which means there is a higher risk of blood clots.
What causes strokes?
Blood clots that have been freed from plaque and gets stuck in a blood vessel leading to the brain. That area of the brain that will not receive oxygen and therefore will die.
During a stroke what gas is the brain lacking?
Oxygen
Why is hypertension bad for the heart?
This is because it will force the heart to work harder and this leads to higher chance of getting heart disease.
What causes heart attacks?
The blood vessels carrying oxygenated blood to the heart are partially blocked(angina) or totally blocked (thrombosis) this could cause a heart attack.
