Classification of Dyspnoea
A
NY Hear association grading system for dyspnoea + Heart Failure
1 - normal, no limitation of physical activity
2 - Comfort at rest, SOB, fatigue palp with ordinary physical activity
3 - comfort at rest, symptomatic at less than ordinary physical activity
4 - symptoms at rest

What can cause a new onset Afib?
A
- Change in heart structure - congenital or acquired
- Cardiomyopathy
- Valvular disease
- Infection
- Metabolic - thyroid, electrolyte imbalances

What investigations should be done in patient with new / fast Afib?
A
FBC - infection, and CRP
TFTs - thyrotoxicosis
ECHO - look for valvular disease + see if any clot is present

What are the symptoms of aortic stenosis?
A
Syncope
Angina
Dyspnoea

What is a chadsvasc score?
A
C - CCF H - Hypertension A - over 75 2 D - Diabetes S - Stroke or TIA V - vascular disease ( prior MI, PAD, aortic plaque) A - age over Sc - sex female 2 or more = coagulate
